Day of the Dead

Our family loves to celebrate Day of the Dead in November. Not only is it such a fun, festive, colorful holiday, but we love the meaning behind this special day, of loving and remembering your loved ones that have passed on. It is such a sweet holiday, and I love that movies like Coco and the Book of Life are bringing more awareness to this beautiful culture and holiday.

My Mom's decorations are always something to be admired

I came dressed for the occasion.

My Mom cooked a delicious, Mexican inspired meal

And my dad baked a Mexican chocolate cake for dessert.

After dinner, my mom had prepared a fun art project for all the kids down in her magical craft room. They all got to draw and paint their own sugar skulls!

I appreciate and am grateful for all the different ways my parents have taught me and my sisters, and now all of their grandchildren, about different cultures. My mom knows how to make learning about a different country or culture so much fun and I am so grateful she takes the time to throw fun themed dinners like this for her family!

Disney on Ice

I remember going to Disney on Ice as a kid and absolutely loving it, but I hadn't been to this one of a kind show since then. When we saw it was coming to town, Beth thought it would be fun to take V and invited me along. We were able to get ringside tickets which made for such a special evening, we got personalized waves from so many of the skaters, V was in heaven, as were both Beth and I.

The entire show is so magical, and these skaters are so talented!

The "Under the Sea" costumes were some of my favorite, they were so over the top and whimsical

During intermission, V got a rainbow slushy in a special Ariel souvenir cup complete with a Sebastian the crab spoon. During this phase of Vienne's life, Ariel was her favorite princess.

I especially loved the Sleeping Beauty segment of the show.

Frozen got a lot of ice time, they re-enacted the entire movie

The finale was so fun, all the princes and princesses filled the ice for the final number.

Disney on Ice was was more fun than I thought it was going to be. I knew it would be fun for the kids, but I was just as enthralled as they were. It's just another wonderful way to enjoy the magical world of Disney.
