Driving from Cedar to Vegas took just slightly longer then anticipated due to the snow, but we arrived in sunny Las Vegas just in time for lunch. We had planned out the meals we would be eating in Vegas a head of time, eating is the most important part of any vacation we needed to make sure to live up the all the eating potential on the strip! Our first meal was scheduled to be at Gordon Ramsey's Burger in Planet Hollywood. We checked in and had about an hour wait, so we decided to get dessert first and headed over to Ben and Jerry's.
Jimmy Fallon had just released his own Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor, The Tonight Dough. It was only available in scoop shops, and since we don't have any of those in Utah, we were excited to be able to try it out in Vegas. This decadent ice cream is comprised of caramel and chocolate ice creams with chocolate cookie swirls and gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter cookie dough. Now you see why were so excited to try this baby out! Ben and Jerry's never, ever disappoints and it was amazing.
Then we got our text back from Burger so we headed back to the restaurant to be seated. I got the Euro Burger, goat cheese, arugula, roasted tomatoes, and creamy aioli. Gordon you have done it again, I will be coming back here, pretty soon ...
By now we were pretty stuffed, but we weren't about to stop with the treats. Our next stop was Coca Cola world for a visit to their taste testing cafe. We went for the whole nine yards and got the combo tray, all the floats and international sodas that they have.
We started with the floats, the Cherry Coke and Fanta Grape floats were my favorite on that tray.
Next up, tray one of international sodas!!! I was super excited about tasting all of these. I always love Inca Cola, I had some while in Peru on our summer trip there in 2013 but the Fanta Melon Frosty is probably the best thing you will ever drink in your entire life. Testing that goodness was worth the drive to Vegas.
Tray two got weird. There were some nasties on there.
Then it was time to check into our hotel. We stayed at The Pallazzo and it was glorious! Our room was so wonderful and comfortable and the beds were divine! Becky and I immediately changed into robes for a little hang out/mini nap time before dinner.
For dinner, we went to Tao because it is in hotel, thus we didn't have to drive anywhere and it also has a club you can get into for free if you eat in the restaurant, in case we wanted to pop in for a dance or two. Our meal there was outstanding! Everything we ordered was so unbelievably delicious, I got the coconut shrimp and it is by far the best coconut shrimp I have ever had.
After dinner we headed down to the Canal Shops for a very romantic gondola ride. Our gondolier come complete with a fake Italian accent and a back story about he was recruited from his home town of Rome to come work at the Venetian, it was all very adorable. Lucio, he even had a fake Italian name, they think of every detail, sang us two songs during our cruise down the canal. It was all very fun.
Our last activity for the night was to fly high above the city lights in the brand new High Roller.
His name was Luciano, Kate. Get it right. Such a liar. I loved it. Also, this day was the best and my favorite quote from this post is, "tray two for weird." Yes, yes it did.
