Raspberry Picking

We had so much fun at the Sunflower Festival in July, so when raspberry picking season came around in August, we thought it was another perfect way to get out and do something fun and still be able to social distance and be outside.

McBride's Briar Patch in Mapleton is such a beautiful and fun place to pick raspberries. I had been here once before years ago, so I was excited to be back!

The owner's sweet dog Molly welcomes guests as they arrive, as well as walks them to their cars when they are ready to leave. She doesn't really loved to be pet, but she loves making sure everyone is welcomed!

Once we had been welcomed by Molly and the adorable couple that owns the patch, we were handed our buckets and had free reign of all the raspberry bushes.

V said she wanted to be my picking partner, so we had a great time walking up and down the rows, looking for ripe raspberries to pick.

V is such a fun picking parterre, we had a great time chatting and finding raspberries together.

Off to a good start!

When we first started looking for the berries, I was worried that most of them had already been harvested, I was having the hardest time finding ripe ones to pick. The trick to finding them is lifting up the branches and looking for the berries underneath, once I got in the groove of where to find them, my bucket started filling up fast!

This was mom and dad's first time picking raspberries!

Monty was in raspberry heaven, he would eat them straight off the vine! We made sure to pay a little extra at the end for all the raspberries Monty snuck while we were picking.

So many yummy berries! We were all able to fill our buckets as much as we wanted. We chatted about what we were going to do with our berries, we had ideas of making syrup, jam, pancakes, waffles,  and all sorts of other goodies.

After we were done in the patch, we had a fun time playing with the animals around the farm. Monty played fetch with Molly using a random tomato he found on the ground, Molly loved it.

There were also lots of chickens that were fun to watch, some were quiet social!

We had such a happy day picking raspberries! We made sure to pick a day that was cool and overcast, it was the perfect weather. It wouldn't have nearly been as fun if it was a sweltering hot day, we had a lot of those this summer. But on a cool overcast day, it was heaven.
