Witches Tea 2020

Back in 2017, the girls in our family attended the most fabulous witches tea at the Little America Hotel. It was held on halloween day and it was so much fun. CLICK HERE to see pictures from that soiree.

However, apparently that was the last year they ever did that event, we call every year just to make sure it hasnt't come back, but alas it never has. So, Bethy had the idea of throwing our own witches tea, and 2020 was the perfect year to make it happen since we couldn't go to any other halloween events.

Beth, Mom, Vienne and I, all got dressed up in our witches finest.

Beth had always wanted to host a party in our parents' gazebo/playhouse, she thought it would be magical to have our tea surrounded by fall leaves. She was right.

Beth did a hauntingly good job with the decorations, the table was enchanting.

While not all of the trees in the backyard had changed to their autumn colors, some were at peak beauty.

After we had all arrived, it was time for the meal to begin. The food had all been planned around a halloween aesthetic.

Beth made this gorgeous purple potato soup.  While she was cooking, she discovered a really cool chemical reaction that took the soup to a whole new level. She discovered if you added Simply Lemon, which is crystalized lemon, it changed the color of the soup from a light, grayish purple, to a vibrant magenta. So she created beautiful swirled patterns in all our bowls with lemon and sour cream.

The soup matched my outfit :)

We had several beverages from which to choose. One of which was a cinnamon-y, fall flavored tea. Beth had brought edible glitter to turn our ordinary tea into magic potions.

V asked me to look into the crystal ball and read her future several times throughout the night. I would come up with fun things like I see you going to Disneyland sometime in the future. But she preferred things like, I see you eating cereal for dinner. She is full of surprises and is always so much fun.

As the sun set lower and lower, the twinkle lights got brighter and brighter, which made for an unforgettable ambiance.

V said she wanted to be twins with me, so she ran inside and came back with a purple silk she had turned into a cape with a hood. Then she wanted to take pictures together to document it, her model poses are always on point.

After dinner, we cleared the dishes and made room for our party craft! How magical is this scene?? Looks like a movie set.

Beth had even brought lights to float in the fountain.

Our party craft was decorating crystal balls! A week or so before the party, Beth had made each of us a crystal ball out of resin and glitter. Both Beth and I have watched endless videos of people making things out of resin, and they all made it look so easy! I had gone over to her apartment to help make some of the balls, and it was .... an adventure. We had read different ways of getting bubbles out of our finished product, one of which was to heat the resin before pouring it. So, we put it in warm water, but apparently it was too warm, and it began to set early which made it expand at a really fast rate which made it melt the plastic cup it was in, it was also creating and letting off some sort of chemical fume. We quickly stuck it outside in the atrium to cool off and get the fumes out of the house. Whew! Eventually, Beth got the hang of it and was able to make all the balls for the party. They turned out so beautiful!

We all got to choose our colors of glitter, I chose pink and gold, Vienne chose turquoise and white, Beth chose white and gold and Mom chose different shades of silver.

We all got to pick a base for our crystal ball and then decorate it however we wanted.

My resin ball had a little crack in it, and instead of moving it to the back or something to hide it, I decided to decorate it to look like a geode.

I loved how all our creations turned out!

Such a bewitching and unforgettable night! Thanks Beth, for all the fun and magic you bring into all of our lives.
