Animal Kingdom doesn't have a firework show like the rest of the parks in Disney World because it would be too loud and stressful for the animals. Instead, they have created a beautiful light and water show on the Discovery River Lagoon, called Rivers of Light. This show had just opened in February, so it was still a relatively new addition to Animal Kingdom.
We didn't know how popular this show was, so we showed up early to wait in line. My sweet dad held our place at the front of the line while we finished up our fast passes for the day. We were in the first ones in, but we still had a while to wait until the show started.
When the show got closer to starting, characters started appearing and strolled through the crowd.
The show features water fountains, mist screens, floating lanterns, fire effects, lasers, lights, fog, projection mapping, and live performers.
I loved this show! I thought it was incredibly creative and unique. It might not be a show I need to see over and over again, but I would definitely recommend seeing it at least once.
For dinner that night, we continued with the Animal Kingdom theme, and ate at T-Rex in Disney Springs.
This restaurant transports guests back in time to when Dinosaurs walked the earth, it is an immersive dining experience that is so much fun!
The giant starfish bar was one of my favorite features!
There is always a long wait to get into this restaurant, so we had plenty of time to look through the dino themed gift shop, I loved the silly and cleaver apparel.
We were seated next to a family of brontosaurs' and we had a perfect view of the restaurant for when the lightening show hit, every half hour or so.
To get to the restrooms, we got to walk through the ice cave which is constantly fading into different colors.
The restroom signs made me giggle
We had heard the Chocolate Extinction was one of their most popular desserts, so we had to try it. The presentation alone made it worth it, I love anything served with a side of billowing dry ice.
