On our last day in Jackson Hole, Mike, Bethy, Karin and I all woke up super early to watch the sun rise over the Tetons. We had the perfect view from the main patio of the lodge.
While waiting for the pink glow of the sunrise to hit the peaks, we discovered an Elk having an early breakfast in the field right below us!
It was fun to watch the warm color slowly envelope the blue, snow capped mountains, starting at their peaks and working it's way down to the lake.
Our elk friend got to enjoy the entire sunrise too.
After watching the sunrise, we went back to our cabins to try and sneak in a couple more hours of sleep. When the rest of the family woke up, we headed over to the Mural Room for breakfast.
Hot chocolate was so delicious in the mornings, even though it was July, it was still rather chilly, especially in the mornings.
We enjoyed some leisure time at the lodge in the afternoon, quite a few of our crew went swimming, some took naps and Mom, Karin and I took a painting class.
Karin had brought all the supplies for a fun art class she found online that gave us step by step instructions on how to recreate one of Van Gogh's sunflower paintings. It was the perfect activity to do outside, we enjoyed the beautiful weather and the opportunity to be creative.
This cute little sneaker was hanging out by the cabin doors, when someone would come or go from their cabin, he would dart inside! It was hilarious to watch the chaos ensue from our painting table.
For lunch, we headed to the Pioneer Grill, located just off the lobby of the lodge. This was such a fun place to get lunch, the food was delicious and I always love a classic diner ambiance.
The grill is most famous for their creamy, huckleberry milkshakes, so we HAD to try one out.
It. Was. DELICIOUS!
We also couldn't resist trying the Mount Owen. Named after the second tallest peak in the Teton Range, this chocolate chip sundae was epic, we made sure to share with all the nephews and nieces.
We got real food too, not just sweets and desserts ;)
When leaving the grill, I noticed they had chocolate dipped rice krispy treats in the shape of mountains and I just had to get one. First of all it was adorable, second of all, rice kripy treats are one of my all time favorite treats, whenever I see one, I have to try it!
So I picked this yummy treat up to save for later.
In the evening, we drove into town, I always love visiting Jackson, it's so fun and charming.
The antler arches are always a highlight of any trip into Jackson.
We made sure to get good seats for the shoot out! It's a lively reenactment of frontier justice on the Jackson Town Square, and is the longest, continuously running shootout in the country!
After the shootout, we had reservations for dinner at the historic and quaint Cafe Genevieve, we were impressed they were able to accommodate our party of 18!
During this trip, we introduced the kids to the game MASH, where you get to predict your future life from lists of options created by your friends. They all had so much fun and loved coming up with good and bad options for each other's future. We share lots of giggles.
For dessert, we stopped by Moo's gourmet ice cream shop!
Then we strolled the streets and window shopped at the fun galleries stores. We kept our eyes out for any doggies we could befriend. It was a fun night out on the town!
