Yellowstone: Upper Geyser Basin

After a few wonderful days in Jackson Hole, we drove up to Yellowstone to spend a couple of days exploring the natural wonders in the park. We got to stay in the Old Faithful Inn which is so historic and so hard to get into, one of the many perks of traveling with a tour!

As a national historic landmark, Old Faithful Inn is the most requested lodging facility in the park as it was the first of the great park lodges of the American west. Built in 1903-1904 with local logs and stone, the Inn is considered the largest log structure in the world. The towering lobby features a massive stone fireplace and a hand-crafted clock made of copper, wood and wrought iron serving as focal points.

This clock keeps track of when the next eruption of Old Faithful is set to happen, you can view the geyser from the lodge.

The dining room was spectacular with it's high ceilings and fun etched glass windows

After checking into the lodge, we headed out to explore the Upper Geyser Basin.

Our first stop was at Old Faithful, and as always, it didn't disappoint.

How we all act in Yellowstone ....

... how we all truly feel about Yellowstone.

In the evening, some of us went to check out the famed Hamilton's general store and to pick up a few necessities.

They have huckleberry flavored everything and it was so hard for me not to get one of each! I may have picked up a couple of treats ...

One of the things this store is famous for is its unique knotty porch. We spent a long time rocking in the rocking chairs enjoying the beautiful evening weather and the good company
