Dr. Who Birthday Party

For the Griffin kids combined birthday bash, they chose to have a Dr. Who themed party. Dr. Who is a British cult classic tv show that originally aired from 1963-1989 and then was relaunched in 2005 picking up with the 9th Dr. I started watching the reboot a few years ago and suggested Jenny watch it to prepare to go to a panel with Davide Tennet, my favorite Dr. and from there the Griffin kids got introduced and fell in love with all the crazy plot lines and the eccentric Dr in all his regenerated forms. I think it is so rad that they chose Dr. Who as their party theme!

Thirteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation, a plot device in which a Time Lord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally. Each actor's portrayal is unique, but all represent stages in the life of the same character, and together, they form a single lifetime with a single narrative. The Griffin kids and pets made a chart of all the different Drs, each regeneration has its own silly accessories and personality.

Each of the kids dressed up as a different Dr. Sam was the 9th (that's also who I dressed up as) he was  known for plain colored tees underneath a leather jacket and sunglasses. Evie came as the 2nd, he was known for his short, dark hair, plaid pants and dark blazer. And Nora was the 10th, he was known for his red fez and bowtie.

The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. While other TARDISes have the ability to change their appearance in order to blend in with their surroundings, the chameleon circuit in the Doctor's TARDIS is broken, and it is forever stuck in the blue police box shape. While the exterior is of limited size, the TARDIS is much bigger on the inside, containing an infinite number of rooms, corridors and storage spaces. Thus, one of the most famous lines used over and over again in the series is "It's bigger on the inside"

The buffet was made up of food that had to do with certain quotes throughout the series, Jenny was so clever in coming up with all these quotes!

The Lady Cassandra Lasagna was my favorite, this is the perfect representation of this character. If you know, you know.

Fish fingers and custard was made famous by the 11th Dr when he regenerated and he was trying to figure out what food he likes, the only thing he found he liked was fish sticks and custard, so random, so gross haha. A few of us tried it out and to be honest, it wasn't that bad, it actually kind of tasted like a churro with the sweet, fried flavor.

Nora went all in with the fish sticks and custard!

After our delicious lunch, it was time for presents!

I got Sam these shirts, he's super into silly graphic Ts at the moment.

This was baby Monty's first family birthday party!

Jenny made the kids the most magical TARDIS birthday cake. I was amazed at Jenny's creativity at this entire party, she has the amazing ability to take whatever theme her kids choose, and throw them magical birthday parties with the most amazing details pertaining to the theme.

After cake, we had fun with the photo booth and all the props they had from all the different Drs.

This was such a fun party! I loved how all the food, decor, favors and Photo Booth props tied into the show!

Allons-y!
