New Years Eve 2021

New Years Eve! Mom created a super fun and yummy menu, and we all pitched in to make it happen. its so much fun being all together in the kitchen, cooking, talking and laughing.

Nora and I worked together on this cheese filled roll tree. They turned out super delicious.

After dinner it was time for our annual white elephant gift exchange. This is always so full of giggles, it's so fun to see what people bring. I always like wrapping my gifts up nice and fancy to try and trick people into thinking it's a nice gift.

Ricky went first and got a present full of cat items. It was hilarious that the only person in the room that does not like cats at all, got that gift.

Beth got an adorable purrito. She waited until the end to full open it up, just in case someone wanted to steal it. When she did open it, it was a super cute kitty stuffed animal, V quickly claimed it as her own.

The most disgusting item at the exchange went to Andrew, he got a fart scented candle, and it was STRONG.

People took turns smelling it, not believing it was as bad as everyone was making it out to be, but then they would agree, it was foul.

Monty and his present was probably the best moment of the entire evening. We all filmed it and watched it back over and over  again all night.

He got one of those boxes that has a spider pop out when you open it. It freaked him out so much but he was also so intrigued by it and couldn't stop opening it even though he jumped and screamed every single time.

Such a nervous face.

Ben opened a silly portrait of Dad, which would become quite a hot item ....

The most perfect gift for Sam, look at that smile!

Evie stole the portrait from Ben ....

Nora stole the Aladdin trash shirt from John, so he got a dancing cactus which was pretty silly.

Mike stole the cat gift from Ricky and he got this shirt in his second gift.

In a very controversial move, I stole the portrait from Evie, she was not happy ...

But she was a good sport about it and ended up with the beaver pencil sharpener that I brought that, in my opinion, was pretty cool.

V got a pair of tiny hands that she loved running through people's hair.

It's just so good, I couldn't resist it!

After white elephants, the puzzlers got to puzzling, it's tradition to do a puzzle on New Years Eve!

Dad brought out trifle for dessert! I love his trifle, it is so delicious and refreshing.

In usual Johns family fashion, we almost missed midnight. We rounded the whole family up with mere seconds to spare, we didn't even have time to get out our traditional goblets!

Monty was a huge fan of the sparkling apple juice.

Needed to get a close up pic of my very festive, bubbly earrings.

The rest of the night was filled with good conversations and lots of laughing at silly memes.

Cheers to 2022 and new beginnings!

  1. So glad you did a “play by play “on the exchanges during white elephant gifts…that was the best! Our “all appetizers” meal turned out so fun with everyone e cooking together in the kitchen! That may turn into a tradition! And Craig’s trifle was the perfect holiday dessert !
