Carmel Mission

On our last day in blissful Carmel, we had s'mores for breakfast. We had excitedly bought all the  fixings for s'mores the night we arrived in Carmel since we were positive we would want to roast marshmallows every night over the beautiful fire pit on the back patio. We totally would have too, except every night we came home absolutely stuffed from all the delicious restaurants we ate at for dinner. So we were determined to make our s'mores, even if it was in the morning for breakfast.

It's hard to see the flames during the day, but there was a fire and our marshmallows were roasting.

A little later in the day, I noticed my mom out enjoying the patio, all wrapped up in her blanket which made me giggle. I think she was using it as a combination of keeping warm and blocking the glare of the sun.

After we had packed up and said goodbye to our glorious house, we made a stop at the beautiful Carmel Mission. The Basilica of San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission (Carmel Mission) was founded by Fr. Junipero Serra in 1770, making it the second oldest of the 21 California missions.

This mission is considered the most authentically restored Franciscan mission, and despite its many events and services, the Carmel Mission's courtyard and gardens are peaceful places to meditate or rest

Another adorable "then and now" photo of Mom and Karin in the exact same spot.

There was an event being cleaned up in the courtyard and they had tons of extra flowers from their table decorations, so they gave Vienne a little bouquet and she was thrilled!

After our time at the mission, we drove to the airport to fly home. This was such a wonderful weekend getaway. I'm so glad we were able to celebrate Karin as well as Mom on this fun little trip!
