Naughty the Elf

The holiday season was a lot quieter this year as we were still processing the loss of Reece, and Covid made it hard for the entire family to get together for our usual big family traditions. We focused on making the holidays magical for the kids, and that in turn made them fun for us. One person who brought a lot of joy was, Naughty the Elf.

Vienne had learned about Einstein, the Butons' elf on the shelf, and she must of loved the idea of having an elf for a friend because one day I walked in on her in the playroom and she had made her own elf on the shelf, named him Naughty, and she was pretending that he was doing secret, naughty things and was giggling at his silly antics. Vienne is the sweetest girl, I have seen her time and again see something she wants, and then make it happen for herself, she is such a smart and creative girl.

After discovering she wanted a mischievous elf on the shelf, I took on the roll of moving him and creating funny things for him to do, Dad later got in on the fun of moving him too. Vienne loved waking up every morning and seeing what new thing Naughty was up to, I could never tell if she truly believed he had magically come to life, or if she was just playing along for the fun of it, she always seemed so surprised to see that Naughty had moved.

One day Vienne made this special car for Naughty and left it out for him to find and use. The next morning she found him cruising around with all his elf friends with a trunk full of candy!

The car made it so she could hold Naughty without taking away his magic elf powers.

On Christmas morning, V woke up to a big surprise! Naughty had brought his pet reindeer, Gwen, from the North Pole to come and hang out with her.

Elf handwriting can be so hard to read sometimes, his Christmas note read:

"Merry Christmas!! This is my pet deer, her name is Gwen. She helped me bring this present for you. (Naughty brought her a little, jade face roller, she had been asking for one) You can play with her, she doesn't have magic powers like I do. I wanted to bring a little bit of the North Pole to you on Christmas, so I used sugar to make some snow. I love being your elf, Merry Christmas!"

Since Naughty showed up pretty late in the Christmas season, and he was bringing so much joy to the kids, he  was nice enough to stick around a little longer after Christmas. He actually ended up staying all the way until the end of  January ....

He showed up in a snowflake sled, just like the one from Wee Sing

Naughty and Gwen were always getting into the sugary treats.

V had asked Naughty if she could feed Gwen and what Gwen liked to eat, he left her this note:

"You can feed Gwen any time you want! She likes candy and sugar like me!"

V made special candy out of play dough for Naughty and Gwen and was excited to give it to them. It took them a few  days .... but they eventually ate it all!

We discovered Naughty likes to play cards with  his friends!

V found this picture of hot cocoa in a "Naughty" cup in a magazine  and  very  lovingly cut  it out for him.

When it   was time for   Naughty to finally go back to the North  Pole,  he left  her a  note so she  knew he was leaving.

"It's time for me  to head  back to t he  North Pole to  help Santa and the other elves get ready for next Christmas! I have had so much fun hanging out with you this Christmas  season!  you are a thoughtful, fun, special girl! Have a fun year!

Naughty

P.S. Thank you so much for the hot cocoa with my name on it! That made me so happy!

We aren't  sure if Naughty will be coming back next year, we are curious if Vienne will ask about him, if she does, he may make another appearance.
