The next day we met up with the Griffins! They had arrived in California last night and we had been so excited to spend some time with them in the parks!
We started the day off in California Adventure in Carsland.
It was fun to see Carsland halloween in the daytime, I saw a lot of fun, imaginative decor that I missed when we were here at night.
As pictured above, Monty was having a rough day, he probably wasn't feeling too good because of his cold. So after just a couple of rides, Beth took him back to the hotel to rest and relax. V and I stayed in the park to spend more time with the Griffins.
Right after our time in Carsland, the Griffins had boarding passes for the new Spiderman ride in Avengers Campus, so they booked it over there to make sure they got in line in time. V and I took our time wondering over to the Campus. This was the first time I had seen this new section of Disneyland, honestly I was underwhelmed, I felt like there wasn't much to do there and it was a whole lot of concrete.
V and I found a couple of fun things to do while we waited for the Griffins, we played with the new spiderbot toys and watched the Wakanda Warriors presentation.
Throughout the day, some of the Avengers come out and do little scenes on the balcony of this building. I don't know if they were doing it up there because of Covid or if they will always be up there, but it was kind of far away and hard to see, but still fun.
When we met up with the Griffins after their ride, we went to Pym's Test Kitchen for lunch
"On an urgent mission to fight hunger? Head to Pym Test Kitchen for phenomenal food at unusual scales! Utilizing the revolutionary shrink-and-grow technology of Pym Particles, Ant-Man and The Wasp lead a team of research chefs as they pioneer a menu packed with inventive-sized entrees, tiny treats and shareable bites that provide the perfect power-up."
I ordered the PB3 Superb Sandwich, warm PB&J with Banana and Candied Bacon on Pym Particle Bread, served with Micro Banana Smoothie and crispy Potato Bites.
The presentation was fun, and it was an ok sandwich. I probably wouldn't order it again, the bread was distractingly dry.
V thought the smoothie was the cutest thing ever and asked if she could have it. So after having one sip just to try it out, I gave the rest to her, she loved it.
The quantum pretzel! This was one of the things I had heard thee most about and I was excited to order one! 453.8 grams, Bavarian-style, with Sharp Cheddar Cheese-Beer Sauce.
I thought the "not so little chicken sandwich" was hilarious. Fried Chicken Breast, Teriyaki and Red Chili Sauces, and Pickled Cabbage Slaw on Brioche, served with crispy Potato Bites
Oh hey Thor ;)
After lunch, we were walking over to Soarin when we saw a sign in front of Guardians of the Galaxy advertising a new version of the ride called "Monsters After Dark." Since this ride is a favorite, we couldn't pass up this opportunity. We were discussing how to do a baby swap with V since she doesn't like this ride, when she said, very decidedly, that she wanted to go on it. I asked her several times if she was sure and she was just as confident each time she said yes.
Her glow in the dark skeleton really glowed in the queue.
When we were assigned our door, V started to get a little scared. Thank goodness for Nora and her calming presence, V latched on to her and wouldn't let go.
Three of us are super excited and one of us is regretting her decision ....
V did NOT enjoy the ride, but she handled it pretty well. We found a soft plushy for her to squeeze afterwards for some comfort.
I always love catching a glimpse of the Star Lord initiating a dance party.
Next, we rode Soarin, and V LOVED it, it totally made up for the scary elevator ride. She thought it was so magical and squealed with delight the entire time. She would point and excitedly exclaim "Look! the Eiffel Tower, Look! the Great Wall of China!" it was so fun watching her experience this ride for the first time. I'm so happy she loved it so much.
Next, Mike and the kids wanted to ride Grizzly Rapids. Jenny, V and I didn't feel like getting soaked, so we opted to see if there were any fun churros at the churro cart by the wilderness explorers area. The churro cart was closed unfortunately, but we did pass by the Villains Grotto they had created for the Mickey's Halloween party. I thought these villain posters were really cool.
California Adventure closed early on certain nights for the Halloween Party, so after it closed, we headed over to Disneyland.
our first stop was to get some Dole Whips at Tropical Hideaway.
I love the little nods to Aladdin since this used to be his hideaway.
I got a raspberry pineapple float
Then it was time for Splash Mountain. This was the ride V had been asking to go on our entire trip!
Beth and Monty joined us just in time to do a baby swap, so I got to ride it twice!
On our way back to our hotel we picked up some room treats. We thought it would be appropriate to get one of the poison apple caramel apples because we were both wearing poison apple tops.
We stood in the entrance of the Candy Palace and watched the fun projection show on Main Street that is park of the special halloween firework display.
This is how we all felt after a long, happy day at the parks, we couldn't wait to fall into bed and get some sleep!
