Positano

On our first full day in the Amalfi Coast, we planned a beach day in Positano since it has one of the biggest beaches. To get to Positano from Atrani, we first walked the 10 minute walk from Atrani to Amalfi. The walk to Amalfi was gorgeous, we had beautiful views of Atrani for the first half of the walk, until we turned a corner then we got beautiful views of Amalfi.

Amalfi is a hub for transportation to all the different towns on the coast. From Amalfi, you can catch a ferry or a bus to pretty much anywhere you want to go. To get to Positano, we caught a ferry.

This adorable little buddy was sitting next to us on the ferry.

It was so fun to see Positano from the water as we came in on the ferry, it's bright and colorful and gorgeous.

When we got off the ferry, we took some time to relax and cool off in the lobby of the Hotel Covo Dei Saraceni, one of the seaside hotels.

Strolling along the boardwalk is such a fun experience, there are open air cafes, plein air painters, fun souvenir shops, and of course, the beautiful beach and blue ocean.

There are several different areas where you can rent loungers and umbrellas. We picked one at random, I feel like you can't really go wrong. After paying, we found 4 loungers as close to the ocean as possible.

V was excited to play in the waves, until she felt how cold the water was and how uncomfortable pebble beaches are on your feet...

We all hung out on our loungers enjoying the sun and the pleasant sea breeze, then V spotted a playhouse and needed to go check it out. So, Beth and Reece took her to play, while I stayed and relaxed to the blissful sound of the waves rolling up to the shore.

After a couple of hours of beach time, us girls headed out to find some lemon gelato that Positano is famous for, while Reece held down the fort by our loungers.  We stopped in a few shops along our way, and enjoyed the views from the boardwalk.

The best place to get lemon sorbet in Positano is at Covo Dei Saraceni, the gorgeous, seaside hotel we had briefly stopped in earlier in the day. They serve their sorbet in a full frozen lemon!

The sorbet is fresh, tart, and cool, the perfect beach day snack.

We stayed on the beach for a little while longer and enjoyed the beautiful, golden light that comes right before sunset.

Then it was time to say goodbye to the beach and positano and make our way back to Amalfi for a special dinner reservation.

There are tons of feral beach cats roaming the town, they don't like to be pet and don't get too close to humans. They just spend their days sleeping in the sun on the beach, they are living the life.

We had bought several different kinds of lemon candy while in Positano, we sampled them all on our ferry ride back to Amalfi.

Our boat ride was full of smiles and giggles.

Once we were back in Amalfi, we walked through the town and up several staircases to get to our dinner reservations.

Bethy had found Pizzeria Donna Stella, which is a pizzeria located IN a lemon grove. We were seated beneath a network of lemon trees and read through their menu of unique flavors of pizza.

Their pizzas were amazing, so fresh and delicious! This is the perfect place to eat if you are ever in Amalfi.

After dinner, we walked back to our beloved little town of Atrani, the views of the two towns at night were breathtaking.

Bethy pointed out that Atrani is very reminiscent of Prince Eric's kingdom in the Little Mermaid, I would have to agree.
