Astoria

My favorite stop of the entire cruise was Astoria, We had visited this charming town in 2011 and I fell in love with it back then and was very excited to be visiting again. CLICK HERE to see the photos from my first visit to Astoria, that post has more of an over view of all the fun things to do and see in this town.

We only had a few hours this time around, so we made two stops. We began our day at the historic Flavel House. This home was  It was built in 1885 in the Queen Anne architectural style, by George Flavel, a Columbia River bar pilot who was one of the area's first millionaires

This stained glass window is above the front door, and reflects Flavel's profession as a captain on the river.

Flavel lived her with his wife, and two grown daughters Nellie and Katie. The first floor is comprised of the more public rooms such as the grand entrance hall, the formal parlor, the music room (the scene of musical recitals by the Flavel daughters), the library (the heart of the house), the dining room, and the conservatory. The butler's pantry, the kitchen, and the mudroom make up the housekeeping area.

The Second Floor features the main bathroom, five bedchambers, and a small room, which was used as a storage room or sewing room.

After our tour of the Flavel House, we walked a few blocks down to the heart of the town, where there was a farmer's market going on we wanted to check out. The streets of Astoria are so beautiful and charming, full of brightly colored Victorian houses with flowering gardens. Clementine's is an adorable bed and breakfast, and their signs were gorgeous.

The farmer's market was bustling with tents full of all sorts of interesting items for sale.

Huckleberry berry cinnamon rolls and mini pies

The flower booths were full of gorgeous arrangements with lots of unique flowers.

There were dogs everywhere at the market. It was so fun to see people enjoying the market with their dogs. My mom and I started to see how many dogs we could pet while at the market. We met so many cute dogs I lost count!

This silver and succulent booth was my favorite. I thought the tea pot wind chimes were so cute and creative.

Even though we had a long plane ride home in front of us in a couple of days, I couldn't resist buying these two cute silver creamers full of succulents

This stroller full of chihuahuas was one of my favorite dog interactions of the day.

When it was time for lunch, we strolled over to the food truck area of the market and perused the different food options. In the end, we ended up with a warm, buttery crab melt sandwich and a huckleberry cinnamon roll to share.

This cute puppy was sitting right next to us while we enjoyed our lunch, we was so fun to watch explore around.

There were so many strollers full of little dogs, and I was loving it.

After petting all the dogs and strolling through all the tents, we walked along the water to our ship. It was the most perfect, wonderful day.

That night was our last night on the ship so we had our farewell dinner. Our cute servers had gotten beautiful, red roses from the market to give to all of their regular tables.
