A Shower Fit For A King

A couple of weeks ago Bethy threw a baby shower for our friend Libby and her little baby Rex, who is due to join us around the middle of March.  The theme was Where the Wild Things Are and every single detail of the decorations, food, favors, and craft were just amazing.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves ....

We all got to write little love notes to Libs and her baby boy in a copy of her favorite childhood book.

The GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS buffet

So I included about a million picture of the cupcakes.  They were my food assignment thus they were my babies and they were somewhat labor intensive so I am proud of the way they turned out. Thus, I included a picture of them from, literally, every angle.  They were s'more cupcakes.  They had a buttery graham cracker crust, a thin layer of rich bittersweet chocolate, a layer of fluffy chocolate cake all topped with homemade marshmallow topping that was then toasted to perfection in the oven.  They were so divine.  I made sure to make tons to ensure we had enough for all the guests and every single one was gone by the end of the shower.  If you can get girls at a baby shower to eat more then one cupcake, then you know its a darn good cupcake.

For our activity, we each got to paint a little onsie for little Rex so he will be a stylin little babe.  It was such a fun, easy and rewarding craft.  We all got to pick what graphic we wanted to put on our little onsie, then we traced it onto freezer paper, cut it out, ironed on our newly created pattern and dab some paint on it and VIOLA a baby masterpiece.  It was fun to see what all the ladies came up with and how they personalized their little gift to the mom and babe.

The life of a baby : eat, poop, sleep

Erick was kind enough to make some of his life changing cookies for the favors.  Tied up with string with a sweet quote from the book.  Again, every detail = perfect.
The baby mama and the ladies who helped with the food and decor.  We have one great group of friends I love every single one of them too much!

How could you not love them ..... they are hilarious!

  1. Wow! What a great shower! I love all of the details! By any chance, do you have the file for the sign you put at the book table and the sign for the present table?! I am planning my son's 1st birthday party and his theme is Where the Wild Things Are (that's his nursery too!)

    1. Hey Courtney!
I kind of made the recipe up. The base is just crushed graham crackers and butter firmly pressed in the bottom of each cupcake wrapper topped with any kind of chocolate cupcake batter. Bake as normal then top with a meringue frosting and toast with the broiler. we baked the cupcakes in a normal cupcake wrapper then made our own template of a crown and slipped the cupcakes inside those paper crowns. Hope this helps!

    1. Hey Cristina!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! As for the crown wrappers, we made a template and cut them out ourselves. They were super easy to make!
