April 24th was Administrative Professionals Day. My boss threw us a mini receptionists party to observe the holiday. She gave us BEAUTIFUL flowers, brought donuts for the whole office, sent out a company email asking people to come pay us special visits, and gave each of us a coupon for a car wash. Seriously, what a happy surprise, I have never been recognized on APD before!
Here is the background on the holiday, I know it's completely random, but I didn't know the history and thought it was interesting. During World War II, there was an increased need for skilled administrative personnel, particularly in the United States. The National Secretaries Association was formed to recognize the contributions of secretaries and other administrative personnel to the economy, to support their personal development and to help attract people to administrative careers in the field. The association's name was changed to Professional Secretaries International in 1981 and, finally, the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) in 1998. To observe the holiday, many employers and supervisors arrange events to show their appreciation of the work carried out by administrative professionals, to highlight their importance to the organization and to enhance their work-related skills.
When I got home I just really needed to document how pretty the floral arrangement was, so here are tons of pictures of it
Dina thought it was delicious so I had to move it to a safer location ...
We had lots of people from around the office write us cute little notes, here are some of my favorites...
Those flowers were gorgeous! Hehe, silly Dina!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenny, those flowers are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Employee satisfaction and appreciation is an important part of a healthy office and of a productive workforce. Saying thank you with admin professional day gifts goes a long way.
