World Showcase: Italy, America, Japan, Morocco

Next stop on our holiday tour around the world, Italia!

Found Dale!

All the kids got EPCOT passports so they would spend a little bit of time at Kid-cot in each country getting their passport signed. I love the EPCOT passports, its such a fun way to enrich your World Showcase experience. I had filled out a passport when I visited Disney World back in January CLICK HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE & HERE to see the photos of my passport entries for each country and more in depth posts about each pavilion.

We got to learn about the Italian Christmas Witch from Befana herself. In Italian folklore, Befana is an old woman who delivers gifts to children throughout Italy on Epiphany Eve (the night of January 5) in a similar way to Santa Claus.

Befana visits all the children of Italy on the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany to fill their socks with candy and presents if they are good, or a lump of coal or dark candy if they are bad.  Being a good housekeeper, many say she will sweep the floor before she leaves. To some the sweeping meant the sweeping away of the problems of the year. The child's family typically leaves a small glass of wine and a plate with a few morsels of food for Befana.

She is usually portrayed riding a broomstick through the air wearing a black shawl and is covered in soot because she enters the children's houses through the chimney. She is often smiling and carries a bag or hamper filled with candy, gifts, or both.

Then we said Ciao to Italy and Hello to colonial America.

During the holiday season, EPCOT has the Festival of the Holidays, which includes special "holiday kitchen" kiosks throughout the World Showcase. A few items from these speciality kiosks were on my treat list, one of which was the eggnog served in the American pavilion. I decided to get the mini thanksgiving meal as well to get some savory food mixed in with all my sweets.

Mr. & Mrs. Clause!

One of the cast members gave Thomas this very special certificate for being helpful! I didn't know cast members handed out certificates when they see helpful or good behavior, I think that is so cool. It definitely made Thomas' day.

The kids also worked on a cute Duff craft at each pavilion.

Next came Japan, a big favorite for a lot of our crew.

Again with the fam spontaneously matching clothes, its seriously crazy how often this happens with our clan of 19.

The Japan Kid-cot is always a favorite. They teach you how to write your name in Japanese Kanji and how to fold cool origami figures.

The cutest origami I have ever seen.

The Japanese stores are always so fun to explore you will find treasures, like these socks rolled into sushi rolls...

...And super adorable stuffed animals ...

... And Kiki's delivery service merch...

... And the best part of all, the awesome snacks!

Morocco! This is my favorite pavilion, I love everything from the food, to the decor, to the architecture, to the shops.

I spy a sneaky little Chip.
