Spelunking at th Natural Bridge Caverns

Today we went spelunking at the Natural Bridge Caverns, they were AMAZING!!  The picture above is of the famous natural bridge that the caves are named after.  I wore the best spelunking outfit I could put together and was ready for an adventure!
Another view of the natural bridge as we were lead down, down, down to the entrance of the caves.

The entrance to the caves were covered in cobwebs and dotted with bat homes

WARNING: There are a lot of cave pictures.  But they are all cool, so please, don't get bored of them!

These caves were discovered in the 1960s by 4 college students from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.  They discovered two miles of underground passages.  The Discovery Tour, the tour that we took which is the most popular, tours the first 1/2 mile which is the most impressive stretch of the two miles.  They are astonishing caverns, they are HUGE with so many amazing formations!

I got separated from the family because I kept lagging behind to take pictures.  Thus, there are only pictures of me ....

My dad was nice enough to wait for me in the last big cavern and walk up to the surface with me.  He found this rock formation that totally looks like a devil face!

After our super exciting spelunking adventure the boys then panned for precious stones and arrow heads at the visitor center.  They found some pretty neat things!

After we were done at the caves we went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner, one of my all time favorite restaurants!  Will sat like this for like 20 minutes, he had fallen asleep in the car and was tuckered out from all the cave exploration we had done all day.
Karin's boys, minus one.  I thought this picture was funny, all of them piled on top of each other playing all sorts of games on the iphones.
After dinner we went back to the hotel.  Most of our party stayed at the hotel to relax and take naps.  Dad, Karin, Andrew, Thomas and I went out on the town to do some souvenir shopping and to get the first glimpses of the river, they dye it green for St. Patrick's day.  They did the first round of dying tonight.

It's starting to look pretty green ...

We went to all sorts of shops all over town and had a lot of fun looking at all the different Texan souvenirs. We also had a lot of fun dressing Thomas up in all sorts of costumes, he loved it as well!

You go Davy Crockett
And.... just a few more pictures of the River walk night life, because it is just so cool!

  1. Nice pictures of the Caverns. The batteries gave out in my camera on my visit so your photos were a wonderful reminder of our visit.
