Oslo, Norway: Norsk Folkemuseum

Stop number two in Oslo was at the Norsk Folkemuseum. It was quite the adventure figuring out the bus system to get us there ... so we had some waiting time by the town hall which was right across from the wharf.

All 19 of us on the bus to the musuem!

Norsk Folkemuseum (Norwegian Museum of Cultural History), at Bygdøy, Oslo, is a museum of cultural history with extensive collections of artifacts from all social groups and all regions of the country. It also incorporates a large open-air museum with more than 150 buildings, relocated from towns and rural districts.

The open air museum is absolutely gorgeous, so lush and green with so many beautiful buildings

We got to explore inside homes, farmhouses and churches

I love Norwegian wood carving, it's so intricate and detailed

Among the museum's more significant buildings is the 13th-century Gol Stave Church, which was incorporated into the Norsk Folkemuseum in 1907, the Gol Stave Church is one of five medieval buildings at the museum.

We attended a performance of traditional music and dancing with some demonstrations of a few traditional instruments.

While some of our group went to the Viking Ship Museum, some of us opted to have a nice sit down lunch at the museum. We had worked up quite the appetite by now and I just couldn't stand the thought of having granola bars in the go for lunch, so I was one of the ones that stayed to have lunch, and it was delicious.

We bought this adorable tiny donut for Vienne, she was a little unsure of it...

Then it was back to the boat to nap and relax before our nightly pre dinner show. Here are some photos of the view as we sailed away from the bustling city of Oslo.
