Durnstein

After saying goodbye to Vienna
we sailed to the adorable little town of Durnstein.
I absolutely loved it here, it might even be my favorite
German town that we visited on this trip. It's in the Wachau region which
is famous for it's beautiful vineyards.  We had about a
15 minute walk along the Danube to get to the
main part of town, a charming little shopping street
that is about 1/2 mile long.  The views along
the river of the town and vineyards were  gorgeous.

Durnstein gets it's name from the castle, Burgruine Durnstein,
that overlooks the town.  Not much is left of the castle
but we were given the option to hike up to the ruins
for breathtaking views of the valley.  Beth and I opted not
to do that hike, but my dad did and he said it was gorgeous.
