After our morning at the incredible Schonbrunn Palace
we headed back into the city center to get some lunch at the
famous Mozart Cafe. This place is adorable and has
the most delicious food.
After lunch we set
out to have all sorts of fun
in the city
We checked out the inside of
the St. Stephen's Cathedral
Then we had to stop and invest
in some Mozart chocolate balls. You can't go to Vienna
and not get a whole box of these famous chocolates.
Original Mozartkugel's are made up of a core of
pistachio marzipan wrapped in a layer of nougat
then covered in chocolate. These chocolates got their
fame when they were awarded a gold medal at a fair
in Paris in 1905. They were the first chocolates
to be formed in a perfect ball with no flat spots.
Our last stop of the day was at the
stunning Karlskirche. This is my Dad's
favorite spot in Vienna.
At first I was disappointed to see that
the beautiful ceiling was all covered in scaffolding.
But then we discovered that we could ride and elevator
to the top of the scaffolding and get up close looks
at the amazing details of the ceiling paintings!
Then it was time to go back
to the boat to get ready for our big
dinner date at the Pallavicini Palace
